The Lovers of the Holy Cross of Hue began their food ministry after they visited patients and found the relatives looking half-starved, thin and tired because of missed meals.
Summer affords precious time for ethnic students in Vietnam's Central Highlands to prepare for the coming academic year with the help of several communities of women religious. The students take courses in such subjects as math, English, Vietnamese and music.
Servants of the Blessed Sacrament sisters founded the Eucharistic Adoration Association in 2005 at their motherhouse based in Bien Hoa City. What began with nine people now has 8,000 members throughout Vietnam. Sr. Maria Nguyen Thi Tuyet Lan said the association aims to help promote devotion to the Eucharist, the "great mystery of faith," to live by it and to bear witness to it.
"I am a Hmong nun, and I work hard for my people's benefits," says Dominican Sr. Marie Cu Thi Quynh Hoa, who travels hundreds of kilometers by motorbike to work with Hmong villagers in Vietnam's northern mountainous provinces.
