Veridiana Bolfa

Sr. Veridiana (Victoria) Bolfa is a Sister of St. Basil the Great in Romania. She served as provincial twice. She has a doctorate in theology and now works as professor at the Faculty of Greek-Catholic Theology in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She has worked in catechesis with children, youth and adults as well as in formation She has written several books including Histories of the Basilian Sisters in Romania; Courage and Sacrifice; Women in the Light of the Cross; The Role of Women in the Church: From Ancient Deaconesses to Today's Women's Diaconate and several articles.

Every year on Nov. 1, people in Transylvania, Banat and Maramureș, Romania, celebrate the Day of the Dead, also called Illumination. It is a day of the soul — for meditation, prayer and showing respect for the dead.
