Benedictine Sister Christine Manderfeld publishes collection of sung prayers

GIA Publications (GIA) recently released "Sing of God’s Goodness: Calls to Worship and Responsories," a collection of sung prayers by Sister Christine Manderfeld. The collection contains 12 calls to worship and six responsories spanning the liturgical seasons of Lent, Easter, Advent, Christmas, and Ordinary Time. Most of these pieces are sung by the Benedictine sisters during Sunday Morning Prayer, but S. Christine also wrote three new calls to worship and three new responsories.

The publication came to fruition when Sister Delores Dufner, a hymn writer published by GIA, asked whether they would be interested in publishing S. Christine’s music to which they enthusiastically agreed after reading a sample of her work. Her music can be used in many prayer settings and will appeal to both Catholic and other Christian faith traditions.

Sing of God’s Goodness: Calls to Worship and Responsories is available to purchase online at GIA Publications and will be available for purchase in Whitby Gift Shop at the monastery’s Art and Heritage Place at a later date. A second volume containing antiphons, psalms and canticles is currently being prepared for publication by GIA. For more information, call (320) 363-7100 or visit www.sbm.osb.org.
