The 100th General Chapter of the English Benedictine Congregation is taking place at the Monastery of the Immaculate Conception at Kylemore Abbey, Connemara, Ireland, from June 29 until July 9, 2026.
The EBC was refounded in 1621 after the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII.
The General Chapter usually takes place every four years to discuss matters of importance and to make decisions about the future of the Congregation.
The Monastery of the Immaculate Conception at Kylemore Abbey is a member of this Congregation which comprises 16 monasteries around the world: in the USA, Peru, England, Zimbabwe, Sweden, Australia and Ireland.
