Adrian Dominican Sisters Portfolio Advisory Board
to Mark 50 Years of Working for Economic Justice
The Adrian Dominican Sisters invite the public to a 50th anniversary celebration of its Portfolio Advisory Board (PAB), established by the Congregation in 1975 as an expression of its commitment to social justice and to evaluate the Congregation’s investments in the light of Gospel social principles.
The mission of PAB is to use the assets of the Adrian Dominican Sisters to build the beloved community through investments in community organizations that embody values of collaboration, inclusiveness, right relationship with Earth, and racial and gender equity. It also engages in shareholder advocacy, encouraging corporations we invest in to be fair and responsible to workers, customers, and the environment.
The celebration, “Building on Legacy – Impacting the Future,” begins at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2025, at Weber Retreat and Conference Center on the Adrian Dominican Sisters Motherhouse Campus, 1257 E. Siena Heights Drive, Adrian, Michigan. The program begins with an opening and ritual by Sister Marilín Llanes, OP, Director of the PAB and Portfolio Manager, and an opening talk, “One Earth Community,” by Sister Elise D. García, OP, Prioress of the Congregation.
The day of education continues with a focus on Building Safe Communities. Laura Krausa, System Director of Advocacy for CommonSpirit Health, speaks on “Building Safe Communities as a Health Imperative.” Laura moderates a panel discussion involving case studies in building safe communities by Cynthia Ricks-Maccotan, Community Integration Coordinator for CommonSpirit Health, and Adrian Dominican Sister Judy Byron, OP, member of the PAB.
After lunch, the educational program shifts to Climate Justice. Sister Corinne Sanders, OP, General Councilor of the Adrian Dominican Sisters and former Director of the Congregation’s Office of Sustainability, moderates a panel discussion on climate justice. Panelists are Duanne Andrade, CEO of Solar & Energy Loan Fund (SELF), and Carolyn Shenoy, Manager of Investor Relations for One Acre Fund. The educational program concludes with a keynote address by Juan F. Soto, Organizing Director for Gamaliel Network, which trains community and faith leaders to build political power and create organizations that unite people.
The celebration continues from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a festive reception and the premiere of a video on the history and work of the PAB.
