Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary- Eastern America Elect New Leadership Team

The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary – Eastern American Area have elected a new area leader and councilors.

Sister Rosamond Blanchet, RSHM was installed as the new area leader at the close of the area’s convocation on July 31, 2021. Sister Rosamond served previously in various capacities: school principal, formation director, and provincial councilor, and provincial superior from 2003-09. Under her leadership, the RSHM Global Network of Schools was expanded, and a capital campaign for a major renovation of Marymount Convent in Tarrytown, NY was successfully completed. She was elected to serve as general superior for the Institute from 2013-2019.

Also installed were two area councilors, Sister Catherine Vincie, RSHM and Sister Susan Gardella, RSHM. Sister Catherine has been a councilor for the past six years and played a central role in the renovation of the Butler Memorial Chapel in Marymount Convent. Sister Susan has served for the past 25 years as Executive Director of the RSHM LIFE Center in Sleepy Hollow, a community center that offers a wide variety of programs to the immigrant community and beyond, serving toddlers to seniors.

The Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary are an international congregation of women religious called to know and love God and make God known and loved. Each sister wears a cross that reads Ut Vitam Habeant, “so that all may have life.” Their lives are built around the common understanding that everyone deserves a life of dignity. Through various ministries, the sisters cultivate a care for the most vulnerable and a care for creation.
