In July 2026, Saint Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph, Minn., was gifted a Heritage Edition of The Saint John’s Bible from the Coborn Family Foundation. The Heritage Edition is a fine-arts reproduction of the original manuscript, a handwritten, hand-illuminated Bible crafted by renowned calligrapher Donald Jackson and commissioned by Saint John's Abbey and University in 1998.
On September 16, 2026, our community was blessed to extend the spirit of this beautiful gift with the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University (CSB+SJU). The Bible was officially presented to CSB+SJU in a celebration titled “A Gift for Generations.” Starting with a prayer service in the monastery's Sacred Heart Chapel, sisters and guests processed to the Benedicta Arts Center, featuring the lighting of a symbolic torch, and enjoyed a celebration and social hour. The Bible is now on permanent display in the Clemens Library on the CSB campus.
