Saint Benedict's Monastery to Hold Prayer Service Celebrating Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

Saint Benedict’s Monastery will hold an ecumenical prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 19, in Sacred Heart Chapel to celebrate this year’s Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The focus of the service is “Do Good; Seek Justice.” The public is invited to participate in the prayer which will be led by members of Saint Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph Parish, and Resurrection Lutheran Church.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is celebrated annually from January 18–25 by Christian churches around the world. This year’s theme, suggested and resourced by the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity (Catholic) and the Commission on Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches (Protestant), will focus on the experience of Indigenous and African American people in our country.

The prayer will include scripture, prayers, hymns, ritual actions, and several personal stories conveying the experiences and hopes of current day people of color residing in Minnesota. All are welcome to attend.
