Second-Annual Empty Bowls Event Raises $6,800 for St. Joseph Community Food Shelf

The Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn., hosted their second-annual Empty Bowls: A Gathering of Hope event in St. Joseph on Saturday, October 10. More than 330 people attended and raised $6,801.50 for the St. Joseph Community Food Shelf. We are grateful to all who attended and to the many community partners who donated time, talent and resources to support those who are hungry in our community! All leftover soups and breads have been utilized to continue feeding those who are hungry at the Lincoln Center, a temporary shelter facility in St. Cloud, Minn.

An Empty Bowls celebration provides attendees the opportunity to “purchase” a bowl handcrafted by local potters and artists and enjoy a shared meal of locally made soups and breads. There are no set prices; attendees are asked to donate what they can.
