Brighton, MI — The Alliance to End Human Trafficking welcomes the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ $35 million investment in the National Human Trafficking Hotline. Strengthening this critical lifeline is a step forward in ensuring that survivors and those at risk can access timely, trusted support in moments of crisis.
As an organization rooted in advocacy, education, and survivor-centered response, we know that expanding hotline capacity alone is not enough. “Sustained impact requires comprehensive coordination with community-based service providers, faith partners, and survivor advocates who walk with individuals after the crisis call ends,” said Alliance Executive Director Katie Boller Gosewisch. We are optimistic about the new emphasis on survivor consultation in law enforcement engagement plans and the expansion of multilingual access, both of which respond to long-standing gaps highlighted by the survivor community.
“This investment must be paired with broader policy action. We call on Congress to reauthorize and fully fund the Trafficking Victims Protection and Prevention Reauthorization Act of 2025 to ensure consistent resources for prevention, protection, and prosecution efforts,” said Boller Gosewisch. Federal and state partners must increase support for housing, healthcare, and trauma-informed services, needs that survivors repeatedly identify as essential for long-term stability.
The Alliance remains committed to working alongside federal partners, survivor leaders, and our network to amplify this progress.
