Sr. Griet Bosmans, 62, was killed by Hutu gunmen on April 27, 1997 in Rwanda. The Belgian nun of the Auxiliaries of the Apostolate was the headmaster of the Catholic school in Gisenyi prefecture. She died along with 17 of the girl students after the children were attacked by Hutu gunmen and refused to separate into Hutu and Tutsi ethnic groups.
