Love transforms the unlovable

During a retreat a few years ago, Sr. Mary Michael Fox experienced a "Holy Spirit moment."

"I was still holding on to the parts of me that I was ashamed of or felt were broken," the Dominican Sister of St. Cecilia told Sr. Réjane Cytacki. "(I thought) 'These aren't beautiful enough. Why would I give them to Jesus?' "

She realized that God was with her in her brokenness. "The wounds of Christ, our wounds too, are used for the good of the people of God," Fox said.

The epiphany is an important one, Cytacki said."That's what mercy is," she said. "Mercy is God's love coming to me while I'm still a sinner."
