Girls have improved bathrooms, take part in new equality club.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Feb. 24, 2026) Youth attending the St. Vincent De Paul School, run by the Salesian sisters in Gumbo, South Sudan*, have improved sanitation and access to workshops, along with a new equality club, thanks to donor funding. The funding was provided by Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco.

Gym supports education and oratory activities.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY (Feb. 23, 2026) More than 1,000 youth living in poverty in a rural area of Koumra, Chad, have a new gym thanks to donor funding from Salesian Missions, the U.S. development arm of the Salesians of Don Bosco. The gym was constructed primarily for the education of vulnerable youth and women.

The InterCongregational Collaborative Novitiate (ICCN) provides a quality novitiate experience with peers for novices from multiple congregations. Established in August 2021, the ICCN community in Chicago has hosted 17 participants from 12 congregations.

The next ICCN cohort will begin August 20, 2026. Over the course of the next 12 months, the ICCN will continue to evaluate and strengthen program components while engaging with congregations who are considering application to the ICCN for their candidates.

As American citizens and women of faith, we are alarmed and deeply distressed by the inhumane capture and detention of more than 3,800 children by our government since the Trump Administration took office last year.
