Paris - In 2003, 23 women religious congregations united to create Les Champs de Booz to help some of the most vulnerable refugees in France: single women who arrive on their own, fleeing a country where they are in danger. With a name inspired by the biblical story of Ruth and Boaz, the ministry helps the women acclimate to France and navigate the process of applying for asylum.

Notes from the Field - The visitors from Mexico did more than just change the way I view Mexico, they awoke in me this spiritual longing for a culture I have never known but has been inside me all along. 

A recent celebration brought together Nigerian youth to interact and share ideas. One young woman, who spoke about the mistreatment of women, opened my eyes and had a big impact on her fellow students. 

Sr. Angela Miller, a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, is believed to have been killed by her nephew on or before he set fire April 28 to the nun's home in West Scranton, Pennsylvania, authorities said.

"It's not a matter of the church getting involved in politics, it's the church doing what the church has always done ... and understanding that since human rights are not given by the government, but are given by the creator, then it's the church's responsibility to speak."
