LCWR closed its 70th anniversary assembly with a leadership transition, prayer and celebration after four days centered on synodality and deep listening.
"The call we hear is not for ourselves alone. Religious life has never existed for its own sake. It exists for the transformation of the world," said Vicky Larson, president of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, at the annual assembly held Aug. 11-14 in Orlando.
"For with your vitality, your witness of a life centered on Jesus, you can contribute to waking up the world," the pope told the 1,300 leaders of US Catholic sisters at their annual assembly.
